Will it fit?

The one thing a counter answers in two seconds and a website usually cannot. Here is how to work it out at home — and if you would rather not guess, bring it to us at LOEB Bern and we will size it while you wait, free.

Ring sizes

European sizing. The size number is the inner circumference in millimetres — size 54 means 54 mm around the inside. Two ways to find yours:

Measure a ring you already wear. Lay it flat, measure straight across the inside from edge to edge, and match that diameter in the table below. This is the reliable one.
Measure your finger. Wrap a strip of paper around the base of the finger, mark where it overlaps, lay it flat against a ruler. That length in millimetres is your size.

Measure warm, at the end of the day — fingers are smallest in the morning and in the cold. If you are between sizes, go up. A wide band sits tighter than a thin one, so for anything above about 6 mm wide, take the next size up.

US sizes are the nearest equivalent. The US scale is coarser than the European one, so a few European sizes share a US number — that is normal, not a mistake.

Chain lengths

Measured end to end including the clasp. Where a chain sits depends on your build and on how thick the chain is, so treat this as a guide rather than a promise.

40 cm	Choker — close around the base of the neck
45 cm	At the collarbone. The most common length for women
50 cm	Just below the collarbone. A common men's length
55 cm	Top of the sternum, over a T-shirt. The other common men's length
60 cm	Mid-chest. Suits a pendant
65 cm	Below the chest. Reads long and deliberate
70 cm	Long — worn over knitwear, or doubled

Bracelet lengths

Wrap a strip of paper snugly around your wrist, just below the wrist bone, and measure it. Then add for the fit you want:

Close fit — add about 1 cm
Comfortable — add about 2 cm. This is what most people want
Loose — add about 3 cm

The rule of thumb: you should be able to slide one finger between the bracelet and your wrist. Less than that and it will catch; more and it will spin.

A heavy chain bracelet needs a little more room than a fine one; it sits lower on the wrist and moves more.
